The 4th Annual KOTA HIP HOP SHOWCASE
The Akron Hip-Hop Showcase is an annual “edutainment” extravaganza designed to act as a springboard for the creation of a more appealing social environment for the City’s young professional who grew-up influenced by Hip-Hop culture. Our main objective is to showcase Hip-Hop culture’s true essence through its original four elements of Djaying, Emceeing, Graffiti, and Break Dancing. The 4th Annual Showcase featured DJ Krate Digga, Saia Setemonfire, Asheru, Tanya Morgan, Stalley, Brand Nubian and MC LYTE.
The Foreign Exchange/Asheru + The Els
The Foreign Exchange is a R&B/electronica/hip hop duo consisting of rapper/singer Phonte Coleman and Dutch producer Nicolay. The pair first made contact over message boards on Okayplayer.com and began recording and sending music back and forth. Soon after, Phonte and Nicolay formed The Foreign Exchange without having ever met each other in person (hence the name) Asheru (Gabriel Benn) is an award winning, Black American Hip Hop artist, educator, and youth activist. He is most widely known for performing the opening and closing themes for the popular TV series, The Boondocks, as well as his pioneering and innovative efforts to forward the Hip Hop Education movement
Eric Roberson
ERRO - the singer, songwriter, producer, and businessman has become one of the most successful artists at the forefront of a homegrown, independent soul movement, in which musicians take control of their own destinies. Roberson's is mentioned in the same breathe as luminaries Gerald Levert, Brian McKnight, Musiq, and Elisabeth Withers
Conya Doss
Conya Doss’s dynamically explosive yet sensual voice is the heart and soul of her music. She has been a fixture on the national and international R&B/Soul music scene for over 7 years, playing a variety of sold out clubs and venues filled to their capacity. Doss built a solid foundation on her engaging and critically praised debut album, A Poem About Ms. Doss
KRS One
KRS-One- aka "Kris Parker", "The Blastmaster", "The Teacha", and "The Philosopher". Originator and creator of the Stop the Violence Movement as well as the overall pioneering of hip-hop music and culture. KRS is often referred to as one of the greatest MC's of all time. KRS-One began his recording career as one half of the hip hop group Boogie Down Productions (BDP) alongside DJ Scott La Rock
Big Daddy Kane
Big Daddy Kane started his career in 1986 as a member of the rap group, the Juice Crew. He is considered one of the most influential and skilled MCs in Hip Hop. Regarding the name Big Daddy Kane, he said: "The Big Daddy part and the Kane part came from two different things. The Kane part came from my fascination with the Martial Arts flicks when I was young. The Big Daddy came from something that happened on a ski trip one time involving a young lady." He released his debut album under Cold Chillin' Records in the early summer of 1988 called Long Live The Kane which featured the hip hop hit "Ain't No Half Steppin"
Buckshot
Buckshot became famous as the leader of Hip Hop supergroup The Boot Camp Clik, and the group Black Moon. He has released one solo album, two with producer 9th Wonder, four albums with Black Moon and four albums with The Boot Camp Clik

Fly.Union - Hip Hop crew out of Columbus, Ohio consisting of four artists – Monkey Wrench (IYE, JaySwifa) and Jerreau. Since the 2005 start of Fly.Union Records, this group has surely added excitement to the music and street wear culture of our their hometown (Columbus, OH) and Hip Hop overall. Doug E Fresh 2008- FIRST ANNUAL AKRON HIP HOP SHOWCASE

Slick Rick
Slick Rick, MC Ricky D and Rick the Ruler, is a British rapper-songwriter and actor. Originally from South Wimbledon, London, England, he moved with his family to The Bronx in 1975 where he met Dana Dane, later forming a hip hop duo known as the Kangol Crew.

Illstyle Rockers
The Illstyle Rockers were formed in 1996 by Forrest "Get 'em" Gump along with Ohio friends Dre Live and Bobby Blaze. Illstyle became pivotal in Ohio B-boy history as they were the first crew to represent Ohio in the 90’s. Illstyle Rockers along with events such as Scribble Jam, and the Columbus Hip-Hop Expo were the first to hold B-boy jams and competitions during the 90’s
Graffitti Artists
Several local graffitti artists came together to demonstrate this lost art. The final piece will be donated to The Akron Art Museum on behalf of the City of Akron and Keepers of the Art, Inc.
