KNR Cares Program Helps Kisling, Nestico & Redick Better Serve Ohio Communities

The law firm of Kisling, Nestico & Redick, and their KNR Cares initiative was featured in a July 2019 Patch story written by Sean Bubb. Bubb’s article, “Kisling, Nestico & Redick Continues to Make A Difference in Ohio,” goes into the efforts of the KNR Cares program, and their year long, well-organized service projects that are aimed at improving the lives of Ohio’s children. Through service projects, creative community engagement programs and fundraising initiatives, KNR Cares has delivered deserving Ohio children with programs, services and scholarships that meet the needs of Buckeye State youth. The Patch article is just one example of the numerous positive press stories covering Kisling, Nestico & Redick’s commitment to its legal clients and all of Ohio’s children

A heartwarming YouTube video sits within the article, and it beautifully captures the spirit and successes of the KNR Cares community outreach efforts. Featured community outreach and fundraising initiatives covered in the Patch story are scholarships for Ohio students and bicycle helmet giveaway and safety outreach efforts.

A shopping spree for children participating in a local Big Brothers Big Sisters program was also covered. One of the most successful efforts mentioned in the article is KNR Cares ongoing partnership with the Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump. More than 40 participants joined the KNR Cares team this year to help the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank. The 40 team members raised $30,000, and it was the sixth year that KNR took part in the event. Collectively, KNR has raised more than $138,000 for the Ohio charity.

Sean Bubb’s Patch story further illustrates Kisling, Nestico and Redick’s commitment to community. It is yet another media story that shows how the law firm looks out for all of Ohio, not just the law firm’s clients. Founded in 2005, Kisling, Nestico and Redick now serves clients through 15 specialty areas out of eleven convenient Ohio locations. Since Gary Kisling, Rob Nestico and Rob Redick started the law firm, it has grown to include 30 attorneys and almost 100 support staff members. The company’s website is knrlegal.com.

Better Future for all People in Society

Most people don’t think about human rights on a daily basis because they are used to them. They are a part of the package, so people don’t think about things like that anymore. However, many different groups in society don’t enjoy the same privilege.

One of the biggest groups is migrants. They are people who work and in a different country that they were born in. And on many occasions have moved because their countries of origin are not safe or prosperous anymore.

Many don’t speak the language of their new country, and if their situation is dire, they can be a subject of exploitation by their employer. Unfortunately, many companies rely on people needing the job and the salary, so they don’t pay attention to things such as human rights.

One of the organizations that work with vulnerable populations is the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund. It was started by Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin who are both journalists with quite a few interesting stories to tell. They work with different news outlets and run a news website as well. Both journalists see the human rights abuse within different migrant groups in the state they live in and wanted to do something.

The opportunity arose after their encounter with an unlawful arrest. Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin were abducted and then arrested after their release because the authorities wanted to obtain the information they supposedly had on the sheriff of the county at the time.

Both knew the arrest was not lawful and sued the county to make sure nothing like that happens to other people.

They won the case and walked out of the courtroom with a settlement of 3.75 million dollars. However, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin decided to spend the money on something that would benefit other people.

They started the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund which now works with different other human rights organizations around the world. The organizations support human rights of various migrants who live in Arizona and other states because they often don’t have access to the resources and on many occasions don’t speak the language.

Organizations like this make sure they have somewhere to turn to for help. Sometimes it is the little things like access to language courses, and someone who makes sure their employer is respecting the human rights everybody is entitled to.

Human rights organizations work all around the world, monitoring countries at home and abroad to make sure people respect these rights. However, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin wanted to put their little bit in work as well. Since they work in journalism, they have the best platform to reach more people and share the message.

It is important that people stop and think about such things since there are still countries in the world where people are exploited, and human rights are non-existent. Many things come with education, so organizations like Aliento, 1070 and The Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project work hard to make it better for everybody.
